Folk:
Folk music has played an important part in Scotland's strong sense of community and tradition. In the past it was often used as a musical form of storytelling and many folk songs from hundreds of years ago still exist to this day. The psychedelic sixties and seventies saw bands such as the Incredible String Band and Fairport Convention take the genre to new heights. Although traditionally acoustic, electronic elements were first introduced during this era. Folk clubs do not seem to have the same presence as they did in the past although great folk sessions still continue in the likes of Glasgow's famous Scotia Bar.
